Dr. Gitelis is an experienced surgeon who is developing the next generation arthroscope that can greatly improve surgical outcomes for patients. Dr. Gitelis recognized that the arthroscope has not been dramatically improved as a visualization device in the last forty years. He knew that if the surgeon had a wider field of view with less distortion in a disposable device, surgeons would be able to perform better surgery. Such a device would allow for no degradation of the view that occurs during repetitive use and sterilization. Currently surgeons have two arthroscopes that allow for two different view fields. This new device will provide surgeons with less distortion that currently occurs when surgeons switch arthroscopes. Dr. Gitelis has spent the last two decades redeveloping the arthroscope and it will soon be undergoing FDA testing.
